Painting Pixels are proud to have worked with the enormously popular Ipswich Witches Speedway club.
We worked closely with Chris Louis, the owner of Ipswich Witches Speedway club and his team; all of whom where a delight to work with.
We also worked with the talented speedway riders themselves and got exclusive behind the scenes access to gain the necessary information to help bring the projects to life!
The Task – Ipswich Witches Rebranding
The task set to Painting Pixels was very big and important for many reasons. We were tasked to redevelop the website, which was a great project to have; but the daunting part was the task to create recreate the logo.
The Ipswich Witches Logo Design
Redesigning any logo is a big enough task; but recreating a logo with such heritage and loyal following is a big deal as it would come under immense scrutiny from other clubs and the global fan base.
As with all of our logo design and development projects; we first sat down with the client to get an understanding of the club, history and position the club wanted to be from a brand point of view.
Using this valuable insight we began to design many logo styles including some, which were a bit conservative to completely wild ideas.
We often do this to gage the depth of a brand and how far we can push an idea before it loses its identity.
This open creative style gives us the freedom to explore and play with as many ideas as possible to then draw down from in to a final useable version.
The logo needed to work in multiple ways including being practical in the real world and so easy to see and recognise and also be clear on print, digital use like the website and social media and finally embroidery on all branded clothing.
Final Logo
After many design iterations we came across a design that was an instant classic and so looked modern and fresh but without losing the heritage.
The out put was three main colours that would be used throughout their branding.
The Ipswich Witches Speedway Website
We developed a bespoke e-commerce website for Ipswich Witches Speedway, which was designed to be easily updatable for the admin and also be infinitive and highly functional for the fanbase to use.
The focus for the fans where to deliver news in manner that was easy for them to consumer. so we used a clean design style where the focus was the content and news that they came on to the site to read.
The website also allowed the fans to easily see historical race results and see the upcoming races.
It was designed to be the one stop place for the loyal Ipswich Witches Speedway fans.
E-commerce Website
Phase two saw the introduction of e-commerce facilities on the website where it allows the fans to purchase both day and season tickets.
This was the first time tickets could be purchased digitally online and paid online too. This has made the processing of fans at the gates far more efficient as it does not take as long to let fans in as they no longer need to wort about taking cash and card payment on the gate which was a slower process.
So a sporting organisation with so much heritage like the Ipswich Witches Speedway took the brave plunge to take their brand and facilities to the digital age; ultimately making the lives of their fans and staff better.
