4D Skull Demo
The 4D skull was created for a medical project, where students could look at and study a human skull. The skull was generated using 4D scanning technology and so is anatomically correct. The original scan had a lot of polygonal information, which meant that people with the most powerful of computers could view it. This meant that we had to take the scan data and optimise it in 3d space so that the skull could be better used. It was important for the students to extensively examine the skull and so we created the optimised 3D model back in to a 4D application. This now allowed them to easily rotate the skull 360 degrees zoom in for a closer look and move it around the screen with just the movement of the mouse. The shiny silvery look was assigned so that there would be no dark spots and would allow the reflection to better emphasise the angels and curves of the structure.
